Aortic Stent Graft Repair for Aneurysm

Minimally invasive endovascular treatment for selected aortic aneurysms using an aortic stent graft.

Aortic Stent Graft Repair for Aneurysm

An aortic aneurysm occurs when a weakened section of the aortic wall becomes enlarged. Depending on its location, size, growth pattern and other clinical factors, an aneurysm may require monitoring or active treatment.

Endovascular aneurysm repair uses a catheter-based approach to position a specialised stent graft inside the affected portion of the aorta. The graft provides a new pathway for blood flow and helps exclude the aneurysm from direct pressure generated by blood flow through the vessel.

The procedure requires detailed imaging and careful planning to evaluate the anatomy of the aorta and determine whether an endovascular approach is suitable. Follow-up imaging is generally important after repair to monitor the stent graft and the treated section of the aorta.
